jan 15 ~ city tour

today was the first official walking tour of the city... we went through the oldest part of bern ... which was constructed after the fire in 1405... then.. in 2 more phases following (in the 15th and 17th centuries)... we have what is now bern!!! in the morning it was freezing.. and we had our walking tour.... then we went into a cafe for a little break... to warm up... then after lunch... in the early afternoon we visited one of the homes/apartment/typical 4 story structure...

the bells... they still ring with these old fashioned bells... very neat... connected from ground floor all the way up each of the four stories... connected by string/wire and pulleys... works wonderfully...
